ITEC diploma in Indian Head Massage

This certified course is run over 50 hours and will result in an ITEC qualification in Indian Head Massage (Unit 6).


There will be a 30 minute theory examination paper and a practical examination, plus students will be required to hand in Case Studies, each with a minimum of 20 treatments, to the external examiner. The tutor will require additional case studies. Successful students will be awarded the ITEC nationally and internationally recognised Diploma together with a School Diploma. Student insurance can be obtained from Embody.


All applicants must have an ITEC qualification in Anatomy & Physiology of equivalent to enrol on this course.

The History and Philosophy of Indian Head Massage

The benefits, contra-indications and contra-actions of Indian Head massage

Revision and extended anatomy of the head, neck and shoulders

Location of pressure points of the skull

The theory and practice of Indian Head Massage

Understanding the importance of client aftercare

Advice on choice of equipment and clothing for both therapist and client

Preparation of case history treatments

A written 30 minute theory examination

Treatment of one client to include setting up a workspace, taking a case history, demonstrating knowledge and application of all techniques, providing aftercare advice and demonstrating client care at all times.
